Deep Thoughts about Jesus - Part I

I believe that Jesus is a real being. I believe that Jesus really exists. But I don’t believe what I think most of today’s Christians believe about him.

I believe that he is both human and divine because I believe all of us are. I don’t believe that he is the “only” begotten son of God. I believe that we are all not only children of God, but facets of God himself. I don’t believe that Jesus’ crucifixion saved us from our sins. I don’t believe that he was conceived “immaculately.” I believe that he was born as a baby the same as us all. I don’t believe that any event is paranormal or supernatural. If it happened, it is normal and natural.

I believe that Jesus has been misquoted and misunderstood for several centuries. I believe he came to our reality as a great teacher but I believe his main message got distorted and today is totally botched up.

I believe that we live in multiple realms, like our waking state and our dream state. I believe that other realms are valid and actual realities. And I believe that some of the Jesus story happened in what we would consider our real true history and other events happened in other realms. The events in other realms are just as valid as those in our “waking” reality. The crucifixion and death may have happened in another “realm” but it is a real true part of the Jesus story nonetheless.

That he was martyred and crucified is made a big deal in today’s Christian religions. Why? There were many martyrs during that period who were tortured and crucified. One would think that if Jesus were God (and we’re not), that it would be a lot easier for him to endure. So what’s the big deal?

Throughout history, countless humans have suffered torture and death. So why is this part of the Jesus story so emphasized in the Christian religions? It is a mystery to me. But countless people still buy into that part of the story and think that Jesus suffered some extraordinary level that puts him in a category unto himself. Really?

But I don’t believe that the historical facts of the Jesus story are as important as the lessons he came to teach. I believe that one of his lessons is that we survive death. Not just him. But all of us. Whether his death and resurrection happened in one realm or another is not important. He survived death. And so do we all.

I believe that Jesus lived in our “earthly” reality many times before his “Jesus” life. He may even have been Adam. Who can say? But he knew his way around.

And his main lesson was that we need to love.

Love.

And “Love” will be my next posting.

Stay tuned.
