When someone says they believe in God, I generally assume that they mean that they believe there is a supreme being, male, living in his heaven, watching us, answering and denying prayers, approving the good we do and disapproving the bad.
This is not the God I believe in. The God I believe in is not separate from me. Or you. The God I believe in is the only being, or consciousness who exists. This God is aware of everything. Includes everything. People cannot imagine such a God. I cannot. Yet I believe it's true.
Seth's term for God is "All That Is." This means that we are not separate people. But the same being. The same consciousness. Living individual lives that appear to be separate. But that is an illusion. Not only are we all brothers and sisters. Not only are we all children of God. But we all are part of the one being who exists. Nothing exists outside of God. Outside of "All That Is."
I believe our lesson in life is to learn how to act as God. To realize that we have the power to answer our own prayers. We are not subjects of a higher authority who decides for us what kind of life we get. We decide for ourselves.
There are those of us who are new at this. And there are those of us who are masters. You can tell those around you who know what they're doing. And those who are a little lost. It takes a little time to get the hang of it.
The God I believe in does not need to be worshipped. Does not need to be feared. Going to worship service and being God-fearing is not my thing.
There are many "families" and "communities" within this God. An infinite number actually. I believe there are hierarchies of "awareness" or "consciousness." Seth says we each have an "oversoul." Or our higher self. This oversoul sends part of itself as us into a life experience to learn a lesson. Or to experience a particular type of life. The other lives that this oversoul is living can be called our other reincarnations. And they can take place in other periods of world history or simultaneously with our current life. Truely a deep thought, right?
And I believe that this oversoul of ours belongs to a higher realm of consciousness along with other oversouls. Like a grand oversoul. And these grand oversouls belong to higher deluxe oversouls and on and on and up and up forever and ever. I don't believe that there is an end to anything. And we belong to all of this. And this is the God I believe in.
The term "God" carries such a diversity of meaning that it is ultimately meaningless. And in our world today, belief in God divides us more that it unites us. So as a race, a species, we have a ways to go.
But we are on our way. And we have no deadline for getting it right. We have until forever.
And I know it will not take us that long.
So climb aboard, buckle up and enjoy the ride.
